GETTING TO PALMERSTON NORTH

Air
Palmerston North International Airport is a mere five-kilometres or 10-minutes drive from the city centre. It is a gateway to the region with regular flights throughout New Zealand.

Taxi and shuttle services to the city depart from in front of the terminal building. All major New Zealand vehicle rental companies are represented at the airport. Drivers can access the airport from Airport Drive or McGregor Street and long and short term parking is available for a fee.

Rail
Palmerston North is one station on the famous Overlander Train which runs daily between Auckland and Wellington taking in some of the country's most beautiful scenery and delivering you to the Palmerston North Train station in the heart of the city. The Capital Connection is a two-hour commuter rail service between Palmerston North and Wellington.

Car
Drivers can reach Palmerston North via State Highway 1 travelling north from Wellington (two-hours) or take a scenic route through the central North Island from Auckland (seven-hours). Several coach services connect Palmerston North with most major centres in the North Island. The main coach stop is located on the corner of Pitt and Main Streets close to the Square in the city centre.
